Hackney REP is a community partnership of voluntary sector organisations and professionals committed to preventing school exclusions and ensuring education is an equitable experience for young people from all backgrounds in Hackney.
In Hackney, our young people face a school exclusion rate 65% higher than other London boroughs. School exclusions and negative school experiences deepen adversity and cause harm to young people and communities. We are coming together as a community to tackle this shocking issue.
Through youth work and support, research and campaigning, we are improving educational outcomes for young people and influencing policy and practice changes to better support and educate our young people.
Hackney REP brings together organisations with extensive and unique expertise in working with young people and families, education, and providing culturally safe holistic person-centred support.
We work with education providers and all cross-sector support services to prevent school exclusions utilising our lived experience and extensive expertise to provide a grassroots solution to an issue that disproportionately affects our community.
This summer, we worked with Mouth That Roars to create some videos produced by young people to share their experiences in school and the impact it has had on them.
