Jay signed up to our employment programme having been unemployed for 18 months. At the time he didn’t have a permanent address and was ‘sofa surfing’, so he had a number of goals he wanted to achieve as well as getting a job. Jay was keen to become a sports coach and in particular wanted to coach football.
SkyWay managed to get Jay onto a Level 2 FA Football Coaching course which he started and also began to volunteer as a football coach. SkyWay also supported Jay to gain a customer service job with a local business, which he’s been doing alongside his coaching. Because of the change in Jay’s financial position he was able to find somewhere to live and stop sofa surfing.
Today, Jay is near to completing his course but also needs help to change his name so that he can get a passport – due to his name being spelt incorrectly on his immigration papers. Jay says he has found the ongoing support from SkyWay invaluable and has shared his experience with some friends who now want to get in touch with SkyWay and receive similar support.
